NSRV Obelix is the student rugby association of beautiful Nijmegen. Obelix has been playing in green and yellow since 1970, making it one of the oldest sports clubs in Nijmegen! The association primarily offers the sport of rugby, but there is also a lot to do socially. We have active members in committees, organize monthly (theme) drinks, go on an annual tour abroad, participate in (international) tournaments and many other activities! The traditional ‘third half’, singing rugby songs together with the opponent while enjoying a beer, is rarely lost by Obelixers. In addition, each team has its own habits and rituals that bind us to each other, the club and rugby culture. All this makes Obelix a relatively small but close-knit association where you will make friends for life. You don’t become Obelix for a while, you stay.

Student rugby
Are you big, small, fat, skinny, green, yellow or something else? Then we want you! Several qualities come in handy on the rugby field. In rugby, working together and blindly trusting your teammates is crucial. At NSRV Obelix, we have three wonderful teams representing us at various levels of rugby. The first men’s team plays in the second division, where they are steadily making their way through the ranks. The second men’s team (aka the Obelix Legends) plays in the fourth division. On this team, the novice players are prepared by the experienced veterans to play for Men’s 1XV. The ladies rugby plays in the second division. Everyone is warmly welcome on this team, which is a friendly and close-knit group both on and off the field.
Both men and women train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and play their matches on Sundays. For beginners we organize the “Young Dogs course” twice a year. In 7 weeks you get to learn the basics of the game of rugby and get to know the rugby culture of our club.
